Popis: The management of today's borders is a challenge for any border management system. As part of the Laboratory Directed Research and Development Program at Sandia National Laboratories, a team of international border management specialists, along with input from representatives of several countries, have exercised a systematic approach to identify technology gaps and have developed a technology roadmap aimed at addressing many of the challenges associated with the analysis of border management systems. In the process, several tools have been developed to assist analysts in capturing knowledge and representing information in a meaningful way while making it easier to retrieve when needed. The tools have been used to help in technology gap analysis for specific borders and to aid decision makers on resource prioritization. This paper discusses the approach and results of this effort and presents the current thinking on how to apply existing and novel tools.
