In the evaluation of soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) and melanoma, hybrid imaging modalities such as F-18 FDG PET/CT and PET/MRI, which combine functional and anatomical images, have become extremely useful. These hybrid modalities, with the use of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxy-glucose (F-18 FDG or FDG), are able to evaluate the metabolic status of tissue suspected or known to be malignant, as well as to observe treatment response or monitor for potential residual or recurrent disease. When selecting hybrid imaging for evaluation, it is important to select the most appropriate hybrid imaging modality, PET/CT or PET/MRI, to extract the desired information. |
