Popis: The object of this article is to expand the awareness of information and recognition of formative evaluation and its accountability for optimizing student performance and the instructional process, while at the same time informing faculty on formative strategies that are readily adaptable to specific educational settings. Summative evaluation, formative assessment and variations in formative and overview assessment are addressed. A broad variety of performance appraisal approaches to measure student progress in the classroom are addressed. The functions in informative writing and also the role/usage of technology in the formative appraisal are highlighted. This article also provides recommendations for a formative assessment of staff instruction. In addition, we have stressed the value of establishing a culture of evaluation that supports the idea of systematic appraisal in both the growth of a student’s capacity to produce instructive outcomes and the potential of a faculty member to become a strong and successful instructor.
