Communication about how COVID-19 is impacting and being confronted in other nations is often inaccurate and confusing. Our communication about other nations is often selective and biased, thus not helping us learn from abroad. We specially explore four nations, Sweden, Germany, South Korea, and Spain, and we assess how various policies there have impacted COVID-19 outcomes. We use BRCT data to assure that communication about those nations is accurate and understandable. Finally, we look at COVID-19 in New York City and show how that example can demonstrate how flawed communication about other nations can lead us to reach erroneous conclusions about how to confront the pandemic. |
