Popis: Although similar to standard open techniques, laparoscopic surgery shows its own unique systemic effects. This review focuses on the hemodynamic and pulmonary physiological changes, as well as complications associated with laparoscopy, the creation of a pneumoperitoneum, and the use of the insufflation agent, carbon dioxide. Preventative strategies to minimize these effects are discussed. Copyright© 1997 by W. B. Saunders Company
