Popis: The article examines the novel "Notes of the Deceased" in the context of other Bulgakov meta-plots, mainly the plays "Crimson Island" and "Half-Witted Jourdain". The general structural principle of all the texts under consideration is "theater within theater", and the general philosophical problem is the relationship between art and life. The authors' attention is focused on rehearsal as a transitional process in which art and life come into contact, reflect on each other, and exchange signs. In parallel, the article blurs the boundaries between different Bulgakov texts, the components of which are connected by similar relations. Interpreting the "Notes of the Deceased" through other Bulgakov plots, the authors conclude that, in the artistic world of M. Bulgakov, the metaphor "life - theater" is filled with ambivalent content and turns into a metaphor "theater - death". The point of convergence of these modes is the theatrical novel.
