Adsorption of molecules of different structure on graphitized thermal carbon black III. Investigation of adsorption of ethers by gas chromatographic and static methods

Popis: The retention volumes and heats of adsorption of C2−C10 ethers at small (zero)coverage of the surface of graphitized thermal carbon black were determined by gas chromatography. The adsorption isotherms of diethyl ether were measured by a static method at different temperature, and the Henry constants as well as the dependence of the heat of adsorption on the adsorbed amount were estimated. In this case the heats of adsorption and the Henry constants detremiend by both methods are in agreement. The dependence of the heats of adsorption of ethers of the structure of the molecule, on the number of carbon atoms, and on the polarizibility of the molecule were also studied and the contribution of the ether oxygen atom to the heat of adsorption of ethers was obtained.
