Popis: | We report a case of a 16-year-old man who suffered from lt L5, S1 root injuries due to the sacral fracture. Roentgenograms and computed tomography scans showed that the fracture line ran vertically through the sacral foramens with the lateral fragement displaced proximally, the rupture of pelvic ring and retroperitoneal bleeding. The L5 nerve was caught between the displaced lateral sacral fragement (vertical shear) and the transverse process of L5 in what was called a “traumatic far-out syndrome.” The involvement of the L5 nerve with drop foot was immediately recovered conservatively by skeletal traction and pelvic suspension. As the sensory disturbance of S1 root region remained, we performed decompression of that at the sacral foramen, and allowed the patient functional recovery. Specific pelvic roentgenograms and computed tomography scans are crucial for understanding the injury like this. |
