Popis: To the Editor.— Although the isolated case history method is not ideal for presenting statistically significant medical data, I believe that the case report of Colokathis et al confirms the findings of other investigators that age per se is no barrier to the benefit which may be derived from a permament transvenous pacemaker. For the purpose of general information, it seems only fitting to add our case of a 97-year-old man who had a permanent transvenous pacemaker inserted on July 10, 1969, with good results for approximately two months until the patient died on Sept 9 of a cerebral vascular accident. Since life expectancy at this advanced age is limited, it would be difficult to statistically prove the benefit derived from pacemaker therapy using survival time as the measure. However improved hemodynamic function can be judged by freedom syncopal episodes and a general improvement in the patient's physical and mental
