This chapter contains current knowledge of role of microbial biotechnology for sustainable biomedicine systems, which included the perspective of human microbiomes and other beneficial microbiomes and their biotechnological applications. The book deals about recent techniques and method used to study the beneficial microbiomes and their potential applications. The human microbiome plays a role in the maintenance of a healthy state in adulthood. With the increase in knowledge about gut microbiome functions, it is becoming increasingly more possible to develop novel diagnostic, prognostic and, most important, therapeutic strategies based on microbiome manipulation. The use of novel pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals to modulate microbial colonization and development of a healthy gut microbial community in early childhood will support healthy adult human body functions and prevent the occurrence of several diseases. There is an increasing interest and demand for probiotics today, after a long history of safe use in fermented dairy products, due to greater recognition of its beneficial effects to the human gut health. The probiotic strains such as Bacillus, Bifidobacterium, Methanosphaera, Paralactobacillus, Pediococcus, Saccharomyces, and Streptococcus exhibit powerful antiinflammatory, antiallergic, and other important properties. Probiotics have demonstrated significant potential as therapeutic options for a variety of diseases, but the mechanisms responsible for these effects have not been fully elucidated yet.
