Synthesis and characterization of Co nanoparticles

Popis: | Nanoparticles of Cobalt (Co) have attracted great interest in recent years because of their unique physical and optical properties that are of industrial importance. To understand their basic properties, Co nanoparticles were synthesized by Polyol method using Cobalt acetate and ethylene glycol in the presence of some pellets of sodium hydroxide. The synthesized powder was characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The average particle size and lattice parameter estimated by XRD were found to be ∼37.3 nm and 3.1653 A respectively. The results suggest suitability of these nanoparticles as dopants in other materials such as polymer materials and oxides. |
