The Traenadjupet Slide is located on the continental slope of Norway immediately NE of the Voring Plateau (Dowdeswell et al. 1996). The slide-affected area extends from the shelf break to >3,000 m water depth in the Lofoten Basin, implying a run-out distance of ca. 200 km (Fig. 1). The upper slide-affected area, the slide scar, can be followed downslope to ca. 2,400 m water depth and covers an area of ca. 5,000 km2, In 1997, high-resolution sidescan sonar data were acquired from part of the slide scar area by the TOBI-system (Towed Ocean Bottom Instrument) (Laberg and Vorren 2000).
