Popis: Trifluoromethylthiocopper has been found to catalyze the opening of the epoxide ring and to furnish not-so-easily accessible novel trifluoromethylthiolated α-hydroxy compounds. This communication presents the mechanism of the formation of the various compounds and their mass spectral data.
