Acidification of surface waters in the northern Kola Peninsula

Popis:	Critical thresholds of acidity in surface waters of the Kola Peninsula are examined and areas are identified where these thresholds are exceeded. Of particular interest is analysis of the extent to which fallout of sulfur compounds over the Kola Peninsula originates beyond the boundaries of Russia (Norway, Sweden, and Finland) and a classification of a variety of types of sites (near metallurgical enterprises, high‐mountain lakes vs. rivers vs. small streams, east vs. central vs. west) in terms of level of acidification.
