This chapter covers the ophthalmologic manifestations of pediatric pulmonary diseases. The diseases discussed are cystic fibrosis and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (previously known as Churg-Strauss syndrome). Sarcoidosis is included in the rheumatology chapter; however, the pulmonary manifestations of sarcoidosis are discussed here. While asthma is not fully reviewed in this chapter, the reader is reminded of the potential side effects of long-term corticosteroid use, including inhaled corticosteroids. Finally, pleuropulmonary blastoma, a rare and aggressive pulmonary malignancy in children that has been associated with ciliary body medulloepithelioma due to a familial cancer susceptibility syndrome, is discussed. |
