Popis: Image security is one of the prominent research areas in the field of information security. In this paper, a new image encryption method called hybrid international data encryption algorithm (HIDEA) is proposed. In the proposed methodology, image encryption takes place in different phases. In the first phase, the input image is transformed into a scrambled image by using Arnold transformation. Secondly, the scrambled image is encrypted using 128-bit key based on international data encryption algorithm (IDEA) encryption algorithm. Same process is applied in the reverse order to obtain the original image from the cipher image. The encryption algorithm has been thoroughly validated based on key sensitivity analysis and additive noise attack analysis and found that the encryption methodology is stable and robust.
