Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the factors that must be considered for successful implementation of a nanotechnology water treatment project for the improvement of the quality of water. When the community or consumers who are the beneficiaries of the water service provision project are involved in all the decision-making processes, sustainable service delivery is achieved. The rationale being that the communities are experts at their own affairs and therefore have a right to decide on any interventions that will resolve their problems. The running of an education program on the treatment of water by a given nanotechnology contributed to the successful implementation of the nanotechnology by producing an attitude change or transformative learning in the community. The latter resulted in the development of a permanent change that assured the acceptance of the nanotechnology for a sustainable service delivery. Some community members who were initially skeptical of the project discovered the potential of nanotechnology. This resulted from the constant interaction among the stakeholders in the process of finding a solution to a common problem. |
