Popis: | The design and development of a novel RFID tag, which exhibits enhanced read range for operation at European UHF RFID band (865–867 MHz) are presented. The RFID tag consists of a dipole antenna based on modified multi-fractal cantor arms with an embedded T-match network and an RFID chip connected to its terminals. Good impedance matching between the antenna and the chip is achieved by optimizing the iterated function system (IFS) transformation coefficients of the modified multifractal cantor arms and the dimensions of the embedded T-match. The measured results of the read range for the proposed RFID tag are presented. The proposed RFID tag exhibits excellent read range over the entire elevation angular range and over a wide azimuth angular range. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
