A Moodle-based software solution for Qualifications-Based Learning (QBL)

Popis: This working paper is concerned with design, implementation, and initial evaluation of QBL4Moodle, a software solution for Qualifications-Based Learning (QBL) that has been developed as an extension for the open-source Learning Management System Moodle. QBL is a Competence/Qualifications (CQ) based approach developed at the FernUniversität in Hagen; a detailed introduction is given in chapter 2. Chapter 3 covers the integration/implementation concept consisting of a mapping between the QBL data model and Moodle’s database scheme, an architectural overview of QBL4Moodle, and an implementation plan. Section 4 presents the resulting prototype in form of an initial user manual; insights gained during early evaluation activities (live-demos, cognitive walkthroughs) are discussed in chapter 5. The concluding section 6 contains a brief summary and gives an outlook on future development cycles.
