Popis: Steroid hormone receptors are hormone-activated transcription factors. Their activities are regulated by site specific phosphorylation. Conversely, steroids and their receptors act at many levels to regulate cell signaling and their target transcription factors in many tissues, including brain. Thus, the actions of steroids and other cellular regulators are intricately intertwined.
