The Fermilab Photoproduction Experiment E831 (FOCUS) will reconstruct over 1 million decays containing a charm quark. This yield is approximately 15 times the number of charm decays reconstructed in Experiment E687, the previous instance of the FOCUS spectrometer. From 23% of the total sample available for analyses, we demonstrate that for semileptonic analyses, the FOCUS collaboration can expect 30–40 times the events used in E687 semileptonic analyses. We review the E687 semileptonic results and make predictions for the physics from the FOCUS sample. |
