Popis: The process of infiltrating graphite spheres with thorium nitrate solutions followed by conversion to the oxide has been studied. The principle processing variables of infiltration and denitration have been evaluated and a procedure established. Target loadings of 30-45 g of thorium oxide can be attained in seven infiltration cycles. Radial distribution of deposited thorium oxide was found to be reasonably uniform.
