The article considers the problem of increasing the service period of diesel engines depending on the quality of engine oils and their remaining life. Engine oils of class CI-4 / SL, according to API, are recommended for use in modern diesel engines meeting environmental requirements up to EURO-5 emission standard. Diesel engines that meet various environmental requirements, have a number of design features that affect the performance of engine oils.
