Popis: SnO 2 nanopowder and Sn-based compounds were used by many researchers to improve the superconducting properties of melt-textured YBa 2 Cu 3 O 6+δ /Y 2 BaCuO 5 composite (YBCO). We found that Y 2 Ba 5 (Sn 3-y-z Cu y Pt z )O x is one of the final compounds in the samples 1 . Employing the differential thermal analyses (DTA) and Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) equipped with the energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), we also studied the effects of such compound on a Y 2 Ba 5 Sn 1.5 Cu 0.5 PtO 13.5 added YBCO sample. We found that the Y 2 Ba 5 Sn 1.5 Cu 0.5 PtO 13.5 reacted with the YBCO liquid and reduced the coarsening of Y 2 BaCuO 5 particles. The YBa 3 Sn 2-x Cu x O 8.5-x phase and a small amount of the Ba 4 Cu 2-x Pt 1+x O y were found. The reaction mechanism is also discussed.
