The directional correlations between the 355 keV gamma and the 81 keV gamma and the conversion electron from the 355 keV transition and the 81 keV gamma in the decay of 133Cs have been measured. For the gamma-gamma correlation the coefficient A2 was found to be 0.040±0.006, in reasonable agreement with prior results. For the conversion electron-gamma correlation the anisotropy was found to be 0.12±0.02. These results are consistent with a spin of 1 2 for the 436 keV level in 133Cs and a mixing ratio δ = −0.16±0.02, which is consistent with prior assignments based on the gamma-gamma correlation. A spin assignment of 3 2 to the 436 keV level is consistent only with an almost pure E2 multipolarity for the 355 keV transition. |
