Popis: Worldwide it is estimated that there is a slowdown in population growth and a decrease in the birth rate. According to the institutions, much of this change is due to the success of family planning programs. Family planning is recognized as one of the main interventions that saves the lives of mothers and children, especially in postpartum women who have a greater need to achieve longer intergenic intervals or to reduce unplanned pregnancies and their repercussions on maternal and child health. The objective of this work was to determine the level of knowledge and the acceptance of family planning methods, as well as the unmet need in pregnant women who attend prenatal control in a Health Unit of the state of Yucatan from May to July 2018. The study It was cross-sectional, it included 164 women who had prenatal control in the rural medical unit, were invited to participate and informed consent was requested. A low level of knowledge in family planning methods was found, the acceptance of family planning methods after the obstetric event was 18.3%, while the frequency of unmet need was 54.9%.
