Popis: | Durability of low cost stainless steels, selected from the materials widely used in other applications, was investigated under humidified hydrogen of SOFC anode condition. JIS SUS430J1L exhibited higher resistance for water oxidation. The feature came mainly from the thin Cr-rich oxide layer covering the alloy uniformly with little defects or segregations. Under humidified H2 at 700oC, Mn migrated outward and the morphology changed. Durability of the alloy seems to depend on the inner side of the surface oxide layer. Although the Cr-rich oxide layer blocked outward diffusion of metal ions, the layer could not block inward diffusion of oxygen ion completely. Improvement of the durability is possible by controlling the thickness of the surface oxide layer by the pre-heat-treatment. |
