Popis: | The materials most suited for reconstructing the content and saline concentration of ancient basin waters are adsorbed bases of argillaceous rocks. The content of adsorbed bases depends not only on the concentration and composition of the salts in solution, but also on the mineral composition of the clays. By bringing clays of various mineral compositions experimentally in contact with waters varying in composition and concentration of salts, it is possible to get an idea of the change in the relative composition of adsorbed cations, depending on the composition of the medium. Analyses of the composition of cations adsorbed by Permian deposits in northern Siberia indicate that the composition of salts in Permian seas was very close tothat of Recent seas. This fact makes it easytoconstruct a genetic diagram of the composition of cations adsorbed by Permian deposits. E.K. Russell |
