Popis: The Erzgebirge pitchblende veins were emplaced during the Hercynian orogeny (Paleozoic) or during a late Hercynian cycle, contemporaneously with the Erzgebirge granites. Deposits like those of the Limousin region, France, are much younger than the enclosing granites. The Erzgebirge-type ores (Germany; Cornwall), characterized by Ni-Co-Bi-Ag-U, have been, or are, producers of tin, with accessory tungsten, whereas the Limousin-type ores (Portugal; France) produce tungsten with accessory tin. The Limousin-type ores are attributed to late-stage leaching from granitic zones subjected to large-scale deformation; they are therefore associated with zones of mylonization.
