Popis: In this paper a new self-adaptive boundary element technique is developed based on an estimation of the discretization error in each element using the concept of “local reanalysis”, which consists of measuring the sensitivity of the boundary element solution to local changes in the mesh by comparing the solution obtained from the boundary element discretization with that obtained by solving a series of small linear systems of equations. This idea is applied to a collocation method. To test the capability of the proposed scheme an h-adaptive refinement strategy is described and tested on some two-dimensional potential problems. The L2-norm is used to measure both the local and global errors.
