Popis: | Keratocystic odontogenic tumor (KCOT) presents specific histopathologic aspects, a high rate of recurrence, and a higher frequency in jaw. The patient, male, 24 years old, leukoderma, presented with pain in the posterior area of the left maxilla. Clinically, the lesion had a softened consistency in the area of the molars and maxillary sinus, associated with the painful symptomatology also to the palpation. Radiographically, the radiolucent lesion had defined limits, extending from dental unit 25 to tuber. Tomography revealed extensive bone destruction and vestibular cortical rupture with advancement to the maxillary sinus. In the incisional biopsy, the lesion was friable and adhered, with easy fragmentation of the cystic capsule and characteristic liquid. The hypotheses were dentigerous cyst and KCOT, the latter confirmed by histopathology. Surgical removal and bone curettage of the lesion were performed. The patient has been undergoing preservation for 2 ½ years, with no signs of relapse. |
