Popis: | We present evidence of the presence of higher order acoustic modes in acoustically antiguiding optical fiber. Microwave heterodyne measurements (∼11 GHz) on a fiber with a pure silica core and F-doped cladding reveal a Brillouin gain spectrum with two distinguishable acoustic modes. A simple model calculates the measured spectrum very well. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 54:2347–2349, 2012; View this article online at wileyonlinelibrary.com.
