Background: The DZL-BeoNet (“ Beo bachtungspraxen- Net z”)-Registry gathers complete routine data from electronic patient records from primary care practices and combines these data with patient-reported outcome measurements. BeoNet provides a quality-controlled database for health services and health economics research into COPD and other diseases. Methods: The infrastructure for the standardized collection of pseudonymised routine data has been established and is being tested. During the pilot phase of the project, systems for data provision from pneumological and general practices were set up. Basic data concerning diagnoses, treatments, procedures, etc. were transferred via standardized secure interfaces to the test-database and compiled for analysis. Results: A test dataset of over 10.917 patient IDs and data entries has been transferred from the electronic records to the database and is updated weekly. Additional questionnaires focusing on COPD patients9 quality of life (QOL) have been tested and approved. Current descriptive results regarding the prevalence of COPD, age- and sex-distributions and the frequency of COPD-DMP participation in the test dataset can be shown at the meeting although the final quality checks have not yet been completed. Absence from work and the amount of respiratory medication for patients will be provided and compared with data from all other patients. Outlook: The next steps are: further recruitment of practices throughout Germany; data linkage with the additional disease-specific questionnaires, ongoing quality checks and data-analysis regarding costs and QOL in COPD. The overall aim is to contribute to the improvement of pulmonary healthcare strategies. |
