This paper presents the design, fabrication and characterization of a new type of membrane supported antenna operating at 60 GHz. The antenna consists of two quasi-Yagi antenna elements, each with an active dipole, a truncated ground plane reflector and one director. Both director and reflector elements are corrugated, increasing their equivalent lengths and changing the main radiation direction from endfire to broadside. The proposed antenna is designed to be processed on a bi-layer 2.1 μm thick dielectric membrane with a size of $\mathbf{6.2 \ x \ 5.2 \ mm}^{\mathbf 2}$. Measurement results show an input matching bandwidth between 57.5 - 62 GHz and a gain of 10.5 dBi at 60 GHz. |
