Popis: When responses of 3 colonies of Cochliomyia hominivorax (Coquerel) to 10% aqueous preparations of egg albumin, casein hydrolysate, raffinose, or dextrose were fested in a new multiple-choice olfactometer, the 2 laboratory-adapted colonies responded similarly based on the number of flies trapped. However, flies from a more recently colonized group were less responsive, especially when they were less than 5 days old. The colonies did not show a marked preference for any material, nor was response correlated with either sex or age. Improvements in the olfactometer must be made before it would prove satisfactory for screening materials as attractants for the screwworm fly.
