Extracting accurate cyclotron masses from weak de Haas-van Alphen beat patterns

Popis: If the presence of the recessive oscillation in a weak de Haas-van Alphen beat pattern is ignored, the apparent value of the cyclotron mass of the dominant oscillation, obtained from the temperature dependence of the amplitude, oscillates in field with the period of the beat. The amplitude of this apparent mass oscillation is large enough to cause significant error if the mass is determined at only one field value. Under the appropriate experimental conditions this error can be eliminated by averaging the apparent mass values obtained at the node and the antinode of the beat pattern.
