Popis: Neuronal sites in the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus nerves sending out axons to the duodeno-jejunal junction and the upper jejunum were located during acute experiments on cats using retrograde horseradish peroxidase transport techniques. A large proportion of these cells are found in the ventrolateral region of the nucleus at distances of 1.0–2.7 mm from the obex. Morphological aspects of nodose ganglion neurons responsible for afferent intestinal innervation were also investigated, showing the largest numbers of such cells to be located in the medial and caudal portions of the ganglion.
