Popis: Power requirements for spinner-type spreaders broadcasting poultry litter and wood ash were analyzed based on both experimental data and an analytical method. Only power for spreading, consisting of spinner and conveyor power, was considered in this study. The spinner power was determined using the measured hydraulic pressure drop across the two spinner motors while the conveyor power was calculated based on a formula developed for a typical spinner-type spreader. The average power requirements for spreading poultry litter and wood ash at different flow rates and spinner speed were determined. The maximum power requirements for spreading poultry litter and wood ash at a material flow rate of 1.52 m 3 /min and spinner speed of 830 rpm are close to 19 kW. Of that total, spinner power requirements accounted for approximately 55% and conveyor power requirements accounted for the other 45%.
