The temperature (T) dependence of the Hall coefficient ${R}_{H}$ is studied in Co-doped and Ni-doped ${\mathrm{YBa}}_{2}$${\mathrm{Cu}}_{3}$${\mathrm{O}}_{7}$, and Ni-doped ${\mathrm{La}}_{2\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{x}}$${\mathrm{Sr}}_{\mathrm{x}}$${\mathrm{CuO}}_{4}$. In these systems we show that as the high-${T}_{c}$ behavior is suppressed, the unusual T dependence of ${R}_{H}$ is also suppressed in a characteristic way. The evidence strongly suggest that the strong T dependence of ${R}_{H}$ is an anomaly specific to the unconventional normal state in most, perhaps all, of the high-${T}_{c}$ oxides. |
