Field plot insecticide evaluations were conducted in ten square meter plots. Each treatment was applied to four replicated plots in a RCB experimental design. For each planting, nine insecticides and one control were evaluated. Granular formulated insecticides were applied by hand with the amount for each row of the plot being previously weighed. Emulsifiable and wettable powder formulations were applied with 2.5 gallon air pressure sprayers, each calibrated with a stopwatch. Emulsifiable and wettable powder insecticides were applied in 500 ml spray during the pod filling stage. Methods of control evaluation were based on the dissection and count of the actual number larvae and the number of damaged pods of per plot. |
