Popis: A quantitative evaluation of the effects of systemic and local oxygen on the survival of experimental axial pattern flaps in male rats was carried out.Group 1: Controls. Flaps were raised and sutured back.Group 2: Rats have been exposed to 96% O2 and 75% relative humidity for 42 h. After three days they have been operated upon.Group 3: Flaps have been raised and treated locally with 96% O2 and 75% relative humidity for 42 h while the rats breathed 21 % O2.Group 4: Daily exposure of the animals to 96% O2 at 1 ata. for 2 h during three consecutive days following surgery. The mean necrotic rate of the flaps on postoperative day 8 was in experiments 1 through 4: 44.42%; 39.61% (p
