Popis: | In the context of the wind-exposed Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, ventilation characteristics of block stone embankments have a major impact on the embankment temperatures of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. A field test was carried out to determine the specific ventilation characteristics of block stone embankments in this region. Our results indicate that wind speed and wind direction determine pore-air velocity inside the embankment, causing changes to the interior temperature of these embankments. This internal ventilation cools the block stone layer and protects the underlying permafrost. However, it does not preclude the effect of differences in solar radiation related to sunny versus shaded slope setting on embankment temperatures. Thus, the temperature field within the embankment is a function of both the forced convection inside the block stone layer and solar radiation effects. Hence, both the wind-field characteristics and solar exposure must be taken into account in the analysis of embankment temperature. |
