Alternating current plasma display panel (AC PDP), is regard as one of important flat TV technology, because of its superior image quality such as extreme high contrast ratio, wide viewing angles, accuracy of color rendition, and fast refresh rates and almost cross-talk free 3D display capability. Compared to liquid crystal display (LCD), especially LCD which use LED as backlight, PDP is suffering from higher power consumption. And it is more difficult for plasma display module to promote the resolution of display module than LCD display module. So as the resolution, which is becoming important issue, this problem of plasma display becomes more series. In the last few years, the research about plasma display is focused on the how to reduce cost, improve luminance efficiency and enhance image quality, China is no exception. Although China has the largest TV market in the world, but there is no enterprise in China which can produce flat display module until the first plasma display module is produced by Changhong Company. In this presentation, at first, the history of PDP development from 1990s in china is introduced, and then the present re search status and PDP industrial status is introduced. At last, the future of plasma display in china is discussed. |
