Popis:	Diospyros microcalyx, a rare new species of Diospyros (Ebenaceae) from the southwest of Guangxi, China is described and illustrated. It is unique in having small calyx lobes, very large fruits 6–8(–10) cm in diameter without persistent fruiting calyx, and seeds with longitudinal grooves on the surface. A detailed description, along with line drawings, photographs, distribution, habitat and ecology, conservation status as well as a comparison to morphologically similar species is provided.
