Interaction of cumylperoxy radicals with aliphatic monocarboxylic acid esters

Popis: The oxidation rates of different monocarboxylic acid esters have been determined in the presence of cumyl hydroperoxide at 50–115°C, in chlorobenzene solution. The rate constants of hydrogen atom abstraction by cumylperoxy radicals have been calculated for methyl, ethyl, isopropyl and t-butyl propionate and t-butyl isobutyrate. The C-H bond strengths in the esters studied have been estimated.
