Structural and mechanical properties of MPG-7 graphite grade

Popis: We report the elastic and mechanical properties of MPG-7,8 graphite at room temperatures. Differences in microstructure, elastic and strength characteristics of graphite samples (of two types of graphite) were investigated in detail. The composition and structural properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Raman microscopy analysis. The second-order elastic constants (elastic modulus) of MPG-7,8 samples were measured by ultrasonic method. The tests of bending strength by three-point bending method were carried out using the Instron 5982 machine. We observed significant differences both in density and in elastic and strength characteristics of these kinds of graphite.
