A Low-profile and Wideband Microstrip Antenna with Wide-Octagonal Slots

Popis: | A simple electromagnetically coupled wideband and printed slot antenna with bi-directional radiation pattern is presented in this paper. The concept is based on generating multiple resonant frequency in proximity using wide-slot curved on the ground plane. Wide impedance bandwidth is realized by utilizing an octagonal slot with a parasitic patch of similar shape in the ground plane. To further improve the bandwidth, four meander lines in the tangent of wide-slot and a feedline beneath the substrate with slotted mini patch for electromagnetic coupling are used. A sensitivity study is carried out to optimize the geometric parameters of the proposed antenna. The total volume of the antenna is 0.26λ × 0.26λ × 0.008λ with respect to the lower resonant frequency. The optimized antenna yields −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 112.66% (1.5–5.37 GHz) with average gain of 4.35 dBi. |
