This paper analyzes how the referential processes act in the political television debate genre, both in the argumentative perspective and in the textuality. In this sense, an approach to referencing was made, a phenomenon of discourse that establishes the reconstruction of reality through language. Some reference processes were dealt with, such as the indirect and associative anaphor, the encapsulation and the recategorization. Regarding the theoretical basis, the contributions of Cajueiro (2013), Cavalcante, Custodio Filho and Brito (2014), Costa (2009), Custodio Filho (2011), Cavalcante, Rodrigues and Ciulla (2014), Ferreira (2010), Koch (2011, 2015), Koch and Elias (2009), Marcuschi (2003 and 2010), among others. The study brings a qualitative perspective, showing the relevance and functionality of the observed referential processes. In the analysis, it was observed that the referential processes evidenced in the debate acted in the constitution of the textual fabric, with regard to the maintenance of gender and themes addressed. In the argument, in turn, these processes allowed the reconstruction of speech objects, since each debater performed it from their point of view, trying to disqualify the opponent and to praise himself as the best candidate for the election. |
