Popis: | 1. The conditions for preparation and several physical properties (microhardness, specific electrical resistance, emission capability, parameters for thermal emission) and also the phase composition of alloys of the WB — LaB6 system (the portion 1–50 mol.% LaB6) were investigated. 2. On the basis of the concentration relationships of microhardness and electrical resistance of the alloys, it was proposed that there was partial dissolution of La in WB for composition with a content of LaB6 greater than 5 mol.%. 3. A sharp change was observed in the physical properties of the alloys at the temperature for the phase transformation of tungsten boride (1850–1900°K). 4. An investigation of the thermal emission properties showed that an addition of lanthanum hexaboride (5 and 10 mol.%) to tungsten boride changes only slightly the work function of the latter right up to a temperature of 1850–1900°K. At this temperature, there occurred a sharp activation of the alloys to a minimum stable value for the work function of 3.50 eV. 5. A discussion of the obtained results is carried out in comparison with those for alloys of the W — LaB6 system. |
