Popis: | The UKCC has, after a lengthy gestation period, finally agreed its policy on standards for education and practice following registration, and has now set out its position on policy and implementation. This is the first time that such a standards framework has been formulated. Midwives have always been advantaged by their very specific legislative position and have had a degree of statutory updating and refreshment together with a mechanism to achieve competence on return to practice. It was therefore essential for the UKCC to ensure that the results of this important project produced outcomes at least as good, and preferably much better, than those which currently exist for midwives. The other important component of this activity has been Council's determination to consult the professions, and to listen and respond positively to their responses. |
